Beauty – Vibrational You One day, one of my closest friends sent me this quote: And beauty is a form of genius--is higher, indeed, Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray (ch. 2) My interpretation of this quote is that beauty is a level that is beyond the level of genius. Beauty does not have to be explained. Beauty just is. No one disputes it or questions it. Beauty has no reason. Beauty is just alive within herself. Beauty does not have to be described or justified.
Every character trait of Carmel seeps with a magical glow that does not have to be described. All you have to do is be in it to feel it and experience it. The beauty of Carmel just is. Living in Carmel, breathing the ocean air and walking the quaint European like streets every day, I find my pores opening up more every day yearning to absorb this essence of natural beauty. I am realizing how much my own inner beauty has lain dormant, screaming to emerge and get out. I feel how afraid I have been to the point of complete terror. Fear to step into my true inner beauty because the power will be too much. I look back and think of all the times I made sure not to get too dressed up or not look too nice because people have made comments in the past. My choice to make myself look nice for an evening out made them uncomfortable within themselves. I remember how I made sure not to laugh too much or move my body too much for fear it might come across too sexy. I have been called a “bitch” in a joking tone by countless women pretending to be joking. They would joke how it made them sick I never had to worry about weight, or how my nails grew naturally strong and long, or how my hair was naturally straight and shiny. I even remember arguing with someone about my teeth. They felt they were too white and felt positive that I professionally whitened them. I have never whitened my teeth in my life. I have bought whitening toothpaste on occasion because it happened to be the toothpaste that was on sale that day. Yet here I was born with a certain naturalness that made many uncomfortable and I had to justify myself or tone myself down so everyone else felt comfortable. I learned to “genius” my way through life instead suppressing my inner and outer beauty. I even remember a childhood friend getting mad at me because a man told me I had legs that would make me a lot of money in Vegas. He made me very uncomfortable and, since he did not say the same to my friend, she was mad at me for days. Of course we were very young at the time; however, it still made an impression on me. I love beauty. I love beautiful clothes, beautiful jewelry, and to live in a beautiful environment. I love to be surrounded by beautiful things. I realize that just as I do not have to describe or validate the beauty of Carmel to anyone who has ever been here is a reminder to me that I do not have to validate my own inner beauty. I can just share with others my own inner beauty as Carmel just shines in her natural beauty and know in my heart that that is enough. I choose to conserve my energy in just being within the beauty of myself and openly share that with others instead of wasting my energy in attempting to “genius” my way through life. I do not have to explain, describe, validate, prove, or endorse myself. I choose instead to embrace my inner beauty from a place of personal power and just express it in any form I want and share it with the world. As I make this personal choice to step deeper into my inner beauty over time, I wish the same for you. I imagine the following conversation among two friends. One will say to the other, "Have you ever been to Carmel, California?" “Ahh yes,” the other will say with a smile. No more needs to be said. <Beauty is exuded> Then these same two will say, “Have you ever met (insert your name here)?” “Ahhhhh yes," and both will smile and Oscar Wilde will once again prevail. |
